DR. KRISTOPHER CHILDS
As a teacher, professor, consultant, and member of senior leadership teams, Dr. Kristopher J. Childs focuses on excellence in teacher content and pedagogical knowledge, equity, leadership development, and organizational change. His work is guided by his mantra, “Live life to the fullest; you only get one.”Dr. Childs is a highly sought-after keynote speaker due to his coaching skills, storytelling, and passion. As a speaker, Dr. Childs inspires audiences to relentlessly pursue their goals and dreams. He seeks to help each find his or her passion and purpose, and his messages have been deemed “life-changing” by clients. Dr. Childs seeks to create a movement through educating, advocating, and inspiring individuals to pursue academic excellence. Due to his student-centered approach to teamwork, faculty, staff, and students recognize him as a visionary and collaborative leader. Dr. Child’s approach helps both school and district teams that he consults achieve common goals and improve student academic success and students’ classroom experiences.

DR. KYNDALL BROWN
Kyndall Brown has over 35 years of experience in mathematics education. Kyndall holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, master’s degrees in computer-based education and mathematics education, and a Ph.D in Education. He was a secondary mathematics teacher for 13 years. He has been a professional development provider for schools and districts in Los Angeles County for over 25 years. He is currently the executive director of the California Mathematics Project. He presents at local, state, and national conferences on mathematics education. He writes articles for mathematics education publications. His research focuses on the impact of culture and identity on the ways that African-American males learn mathematics. He is the co-author of the book Choosing To See: A Framework For Equity In The Math Classroom.

This area of focus centers around practices, tools, research, and insights that invite students' questions and conjectures, prioritize reasoning and justification, and promote deep curiosity. We invite presentations that highlight Instruction that incorporates these components to enable a diverse group of students to see themselves as mathematically capable individuals whose curiosity and a love of mathematics learning will be sustained throughout their schooling.

Our areas of focus are organized around the three dimensions of Systemic Change that Support Math Instruction; An Assets-Based Approach to Instruction, Active Engagement through investigation and Connection, and Cultural and Personal Relevance. In order to support equity and engaging mathematics instruction, these systemic characteristics must be in place for each and every student to have access and experience success in our math classrooms.
