POSITION SUMMARY

About the Program


Silicon Valley Education Foundation has partnered with school districts since 2008. [CS] Innovate ([CS]I) is designed for rising 4th-10th graders, equipping them with essential computer science and design-thinking skills through weekly hands-on projects. Our curriculum is developed by Microsoft and curated by our expert team.

Our Mission: Deliver equitable STEM education that inspires and prepares students for college and careers, with a focus on supporting "nearly meeting standard" students in their pathway to success.


Why Teach [CS] Innovate?

  • Empower Student Innovation – Help students prepare for high-school level computer science using a unique, hands-on curriculum

  • Project-Based Learning – Provide high-quality instruction through engaging, real-world projects

  • Professional Growth – Gain new tools and strategies for effective STEM teaching through comprehensive professional development

  • No CS Background Required – Computer science teaching experience is preferred but NOT required

LOCATION & WORK SCHEDULE

  • Duration: 18-24 instructional days (mid-June through end of July)

  • Daily Schedule: 3.5-5 hours per day, determined by district needs

  • Location: District-specific sites in the Bay Area

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction & Program Implementation


  • Implement the [CS]I program with fidelity and adopt instructional practices that best address student learning needs

  • Provide constructive feedback to students throughout their projects

  • Arrive 15 minutes before class and stay 15 minutes after (included in daily rate)

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Complete all evaluation and data collection requirements

  • Administer pre- and post-student assessments and attitudinal surveys

Technology Integration

  • Integrate digital tools to strengthen student access to online curriculum and resources

  • Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning with technology

Communication & Tracking

  • Monitor and track daily attendance

  • Communicate student concerns with families and [CS]I staff as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE OF

Required:

California Teaching Credential (required for most placements; math/science credential preferred) Select placements available for candidates with only a college degree

Prior teaching and/or tutoring experience (applications without experience will not be considered)

● TB test results (if expired cost reimbursed by SV[e]F)

● Fingerprinting clearance before working with students (cost reimbursed by SV[e]F for new applicants; district-specific requirements may apply)

COMPENSATION

Half-Day Programs (typically grades 3-11)

  • $260 per day

  • Total for a 19 day program: $6,500* (19 class days + 4 training days + 1 planning day + 1 setup day)

High School Extended Programs (depending on class hours)

  • $325 per day

  • Total for a 24 day program: $9,750* (24 class days + 4 training days + 1 planning day + 1 setup day)

Incentive or Bonus Opportunities:

  • Early Signing Incentive: Receive two $50 gift cards when you sign up by January 25th

  • Referral Bonus: Earn $100 when you refer a new teacher who completes the program
