Marketing and Communications Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Join the SVEF team in a critical role to deliver our message by managing and implementing marketing and communications projects across all departments.

POSITION TYPE

Part-time, 20 to 25 hours per week.

REPORTS TO

Marketing and Donor Engagement Manager

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain social media content, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTokaligned with organizational priorities and campaigns

  • Schedule and publish posts across social media platforms using approved content calendars

  • Brainstorm and contribute creative content ideas to support storytelling and engagement goals

  • Create visual assets using tools such as Canva in alignment with brand guidelines

  • Update and create templates for graphics, presentations, and other organizational materials

  • Track engagement metrics and support reporting on social media performance

  • Research trends, news, and conversations related to AI, STEM, education, and funding reform to inform content strategy

  • Track and summarize press coverage and key announcements related to SV[e]F initiatives

  • Support ongoing communications and marketing workflows, including email, website, and collateral updates

  • Assist with event logistics such as organizing promotional assets, tracking RSVPs, and coordinating signage/collateral

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Current college student or recent graduate in marketing, communications, or a related field, or someone with relevant coursework or volunteer experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, and TikTok.

  • Experience creating graphics or presentations using Canva, Google Slides, or similar tools.

  • Organized, follows instructions, and meets deadlines with support from a supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Occasional physical activity may be required related events or marketing initiatives such as lifting, carrying
and transporting marketing materials, supplies or equipment and setting up displays.

POSITION TYPE

Part-time, 20 to 25 hours per week.

TRAVEL

This role may require occasional travel to event sites for setup, preparation, or support of marketing
initiatives.

LOCATION & WORK SCHEDULE

Preferred schedule is Monday-Thursday between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The position requires in-office attendance Monday-Wednesday, with remote work on Thursdays. Specific scheduling is subject to candidate availability and organizational needs. Occasional additional hours may be required to support events. Overtime is not permitted; any hours worked beyond the approved schedule must be pre-approved in writing by the manager.

PREFFERED START DATE AND SALARY PARAMETERS

  • Preferred start date: as soon as possible

  • Salary commensurate with experience. Hourly Range: $25-$30 per hour

  • Benefits offered in compliance with federal and CA state laws. Working additional hours or approved overtime does not change the part-time status of the position or eligibility for benefits
