Silicon Valley Unified Contract

School districts across Silicon Valley are responsible for ensuring the safety and privacy of student information, as well as differentiating which products meet legal and other requirements for purchase. These processes are repeated across every district creating a massive redundancy of efforts, especially as legal regulations are updated, including the recent Assembly Bills 1584, 1442 and SB 1177 in California, and applicable federal regulations (e.g. FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, etc.).

What Is It?

In collaboration with leading districts and stakeholders, SVEF is creating a unified contract to streamline the process, procurement and implementation of safe, secure educational technologies to personalize learning.

Why Is It Important?

Students, educators, their schools and their families, along with the vendors themselves will benefit from this collaborative approach. A streamlined, transparent unified contract process will:
  • Ensure instructional technology is safe, secure and complies with laws;
  • Ease the administrative burdens, time and costs for districts ensuring the safety and privacy for their students;
  • Honor and support innovative educators using different technologies with students;
  • Increase educator confidence, differentiation and adoption of learning technologies; and
  • Afford participating districts additional purchasing power.

Leading districts and SVEF will be working together to adopt the unified contract and implement its use - contact SVEF to get involved!
