Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) is the largest educational nonprofit in Silicon Valley. Elevate [Math] Coach


Silicon Valley Education Foundation has been partnering with school districts since 2008 to offer Elevate [Math], a yearly summer intervention program to prepare students to successfully complete their next level Common Core math course. Elevate [Math]’s goal is to support “nearly meeting standard” students in their college and career pathway.


Each class is held at a specific site determined by each district in-person learning.

The 19-day (middle school) and 24-day (high school) programs will run approximately mid-June through mid- August.

Coaches will be responsible for 8-10 teachers.

1. Class Observations: Coaches will be trained on an Observation Protocol and must

observe/debrief each teacher’s class at least 2 times during the program.

2. Program Meetings: Coaches must attend all meetings, including an end of

program feedback session


  • Coordinate, observe, and follow-up on observations (2 per teacher) of classroom instruction and student engagement (non-evaluative).

  • Actively participate in Elevate teacher professional learning sessions and PLCs (3).

  • Support/attend end-of-program celebrations for assigned teachers.

  • Ensure teachers administer pre/post assessments and surveys.

  • Facilitate data collection for each class (attendance, student information, etc) and support teachers to ensure data accuracy.

  • Serve as liaison for teachers, ensuring teacher requests are addressed.

  • Provide general program support by being in classes for at least 19 class days

  • Serve as mentor and coach to teachers.

  • Present during the first day of classes


  • California Teaching Credential

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a math teacher, math lead or coach.

  • Experience in supervision and/or coaching.

  • Able to communicate clearly & effectively with all constituents (email & texting)

  • Ability to use technology tools including but not limited to Google Classroom, Zoom, Nearpod.

  • Provide own transportation between sites (mileage will be reimbursed between sites only)

  • Required proof of TB test results and fingerprinting before working with students (costs reimbursed by SVEF). 

  • District-specific fingerprinting may be required.


  • Attendance at coach training.

  • Participation in Professional Learning Sessions.

  • Lead 3 PLCs.

  • Observe each teacher's class at least 2 times during the program.

  • Attend all meetings, including end-of-program debrief.


The salary is $7,020* (daily rate $270)

*Full compensation includes fulfillment of all PL and PLC dates, daily instruction, and required logistics. (Payroll taxes apply).

Referral Bonus: Receive a $100 bonus if a referred teacher completes the summer program.

  • May 9th, 4:00pm-6:00pm, Virtual.

  • May 18th, 8:30am-3:30pm, location TBD Santa Clara County.

3. Lead Professional Learning Communities

Host three PLC sessions with your teacher team: one before classes begin and two during the summer class dates.
