Position: Program Evaluation Director

The Program Evaluation Director is responsible for evaluating program effectiveness and supporting an informed decision-making process that promotes the use of on-going monitoring, evaluation and learning to shape programming. This is done through the development of frameworks for evaluation, managing regular cycles of outcome monitoring and evaluation, and promoting strategic learning and knowledge sharing internally and externally.

The Program Evaluation Director will report to the CEO and work closely with the CEO to lead and champion the Foundation’s mission and services. The Program Evaluation Director is a key member of the senior management team.

The Program Evaluation Director’s objectives will be to:

  • Lead internal evaluation efforts to assess and report on program effectiveness to improve organizational learning and growth;
  • Design and implement evaluations of new program/delivery models;
  • Facilitate the use of data across the organization; and
  • Support organizational metrics and measures.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine measures and methods that accurately assess SVEF Theory of Impact and other measures of effectiveness
  • Ensure data collection processes and systems are rigorous and clearly aligned to intended outcomes and train staff to implement those processes
  • Monitor the landscape of education data and measurement to keep the organization up-to- date on advancements and improvements
  • Disseminate organizational knowledge/learnings to the field through conferences and publications
  • Report (to internal audiences) on organizational outcomes and impact – providing meaningful data analysis that guide implementation, highlight promising practices and identify opportunities for innovation
  • Design pilot evaluations of new program elements/models including development of learning questions, data collection processes, gathering and analyzing feedback from teams, and reporting on findings
  • Document the findings from pilot programs to guide decision-making around use and roll- out in the future
  • Create processes for staff to engage with results and incorporate learning into their work
  • Partner with program leadership to drive planning and execution of innovative strategies to
  • advance a learning and evaluation culture
  • Support the strategic planning process for program teams through evaluation and use of
  • Theory of Impact data
  • Support process of setting and tracking progress toward organizational goals and objectives
  • Administer annual organizational effectiveness survey and guide analysis processes
  • Provide the leadership team with just-in-time data and metrics to support organizational
  • reflection, development and planning

Fundraising:

  • Actively participate and collaborate with SVEF’s Marketing and Fund Development teams to ensure they have the data to support our marketing and fundraising efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent experience and at least five years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and core values of SVEF.
  • Demonstrated strategic and operational planning and execution skills.
  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate individuals and teams (staff, volunteers, Advisory
  • Boards, community, etc).
  • Ability to manage business relationships, alliances and collaborate with a variety of
  • individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal skills to influence, negotiate, coach, inspire and motivate
  • individuals and teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations, program management and people development
  • Knowledge of and work with the public education system and non-profit organizations
  • Ability to thrive in a multitasking environment.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite of applications. Salesforce
  • knowledge highly desirable.
  • Having fun.

Preferred Start Date and Salary Parameters: Preferred start in October 2018, salary commensurate with experience.
