It also honors a Silicon Valley leader who has made a difference in education, and this year we are proud to honor Faysal Sohail of CMEA Capital for his longtime support of education in the Bay Area and internationally.
Faysal Sohail 2011 Pioneer Business Leader		Over the years, Pioneers & Purpose has raised over $4 million for programs that are helping teachers improve student learning, and thousands of underserved youth prepare for college and careers. Last year, more than 2,000 students and 600 teachers benefitted from the proceeds of this event. Will you join me this year and show your support for education? Summer Learning: STEM Education

Upcoming Events

You won't find much summer learning loss here – summer has been busy at SVEF as we rolled out two exciting programs to help students gain critical skills in math and science: Stepping Up To Algebra and Stepping Up To Science. These programs prepare students for success in Algebra 1 in 8th grade, and raise the number of students placed in biology in 9th grade, respectively. As part of the programs, students are introduced to college through visits to local universities and college information nights, preparing them for college and career success. This year we served over 2,000 students in partnership with 15 school districts. Learn more about our new Stepping Up To Science program.

SUTA/MAP students, teachers, superintendents, and funders will join us to talk about their experiences, and program results will be announced.

Globaloria

Silicon Valley Education Foundation is proud to partner with the World Wide Workshop to bring Globaloria to Silicon Valley schools. An innovative program for integrated STEM education, the learning network teaches students how to build game systems, conduct Internet research, and use social networking tools in the course of designing games about educational and social problems. Thanks to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, SVEF is the first partner in Silicon Valley to bring this innovative program to the Oak Grove School District and other community sites this Fall.
