Since the first Teacher Innovation Grant was awarded in 2006, Silicon Valley Education Foundation has contributed more than $400,000 to over 750 educators and their students throughout Silicon Valley. We strive to continue to grow this program to consistently support new ways of teaching and learning in and outside the classroom.
In the 2010-2011 school year, SVEF funded 166 Teacher Innovation Grants with a contribution of over $100,000. Of these grants, 132 grants enabled teachers to bring the newest ideas in education into their classrooms and 34 funded student field trips that brought learning to life. In the 2009-2010 school year, SVEF funded 194 Teacher Innovation Grants with an investment of over $116,000. Of these grants, 161 were used to improve student learning in teacher classrooms and 33 funded student outings. Over 30% of were Collaborative Grants. In the 2008-2009 school year, SVEF funded 155 Teacher Innovation Grants with a contribution of over $99,000. Of these grants, 122 funded primarily technology resources and tools for teaching and learning in classrooms and 33 were applied to student field trips. Over 30% were Collaborative Grants.
