Technology has transformed every aspect of life outside of schools but has yet to be thoroughly infused and integrated into the classroom. At Silicon Valley Education Foundation, we believe technology can be a critical driver and tool for inspiring student learning and improving education.
On August 3 and 4, 2011, SVEF will launch ShiftED—a vital movement to shift educational practice in Valley schools toward a new paradigm, one that truly takes full advantage of technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Participants may attend the first day or both days of the two-day professional development conference. The first day of attendance is mandatory in order to benefit from the program. Please select from the following options.
On the first day, Scott McNealy, co-founder of Sun Microsystems and former CEO, will start off the conference with the keynote address. This will be followed by several shorter presentations from local educators who will share successful, practical examples of effective technology integration. Participants will learn new ways to get more educational value from technology (in particular, existing technology that is already available in today's schools) and build a vision for how technology will support learning in the future. Register here.
Fee per person - $25.00
Contact your district office to find out whether your school qualifies for a fee waiver.
On the second day, Bernie Trilling, 21st century learning expert, advisor, author, and former global director of the Oracle Education Foundation, will talk about bringing 21st century learning methods to students and teachers across the globe. Participants will break out into teams to pool their expertise and talents and develop specific action plans to address educational challenges through technology integration and infusion.
