Books for Little Hands:
Books for Little Hands is a product of the San José Public Library. The program offers a free and comprehensive program supporting early educators and child care providers with the common goal of meeting the emerging literacy needs of young children ages 0-5. In this program, child care providers are assigned to a special check-out category with no fines and a one-month borrowing period.
Bring Me a Book Foundation: Bring Me a Book Foundation features the First Teachers Program workshops which engage and educate parents, childcare providers and teachers on the critical importance of reading aloud to children. Through highly interactive instruction and dialogue, participants develop individualized solutions to overcome the challenges of daily read-aloud routines.
CA Association of Bilingual Education, CABE: CABE offers professional development conferences and institutes: CABE is the premier organization for professional development on the education of English Learners in California. This professional development program is for educators, parents, and other community members.
Children’s Discovery Museum: The Children’s Discovery Museum offers educational outreach programs, staff development opportunities, and special programs to support the work of classroom teachers through the following: Museum Exhibits, Your Curriculum, and the State Content Standards, Field Trips Pre- and Post-Visit Activities , Museum Programs in Your Classroom, Family Science Nights at Your School.
International Reading Association, IRA: IRA is a membership organization their website is a clearinghouse for literacy conferences, teaching tools, research, advocacy and information on grants and awards.
National Association of the Education of Young Children, NAEYC : The National Association of the Education of Young Children, NAEYC is a leading publisher of educational resources—including books, videos, and posters—for those interested in early childhood education. Their journals, Young Children and Early Childhood Research Quarterly, help NAEYC members and other early childhood professionals stay informed about the latest research and ideas they can use in their daily work.
Provider Training Resource and Activity Center, PTRAC: PTRAC which is a product of Choices for Children is committed to enhancing the quality and increasing the availability of childcare by providing education, support, resources, and a center for early educators in Santa Clara County.
Resource Area for Teaching, RAFT: Resource Area for Teaching, RAFT believes hands-on teaching is the best way for our children to learn, so they provide teachers and community groups with creative tools and materials to promote hands-on teaching in science, math, technology, and art. Everyday items like computers, office supplies, and manufacturing by-products are donated to RAFT by over 1,000 local businesses and transformed into hands-on teaching experiences.
In addition to the ideas and materials RAFT supplies to support hands-on learning activities, they also provide professional development classes, workshops, continuing education units, and informal gatherings where members can share their ideas.
