The Future is Green

More than 90 educators, business leaders and green advocates turned out for a forum at San Jose's Tech Museum June 21st to talk about preparing our students with skills they'll need to enter future solar and other green careers. Several Santa Clara County school districts - San Jose Unified, East Side Union High School and Franklin-McKinley - have green technology programs, but more schools need to develop them.

How will educators prepare students to take advantage of the opportunities that will arise as a result of the shift to new energy sources? How does virtual world teaching apply to real world standards and social interactions? What are the career opportunities that will arise in newly emerging solar power and other green energy markets? What are the 21st century skills that will be needed as solar and other green energy sources continue to emerge into the future? These and other questions were answered at the event.
