Saddened that arts and sports programs are on the chopping block at your kid's school? Shocked by closed libraries and elimination of basic homework assistance and special needs programs? Tired of overcrowded classrooms and no money for supplies, teachers, or counselors?
In partnership with Supervisor Dave Cortese, we invite you to join us - parents, teachers, administrators, students, activists, anyone who cares about education - to our educational summit and free bus trip to Sacramento to talk with our legislators about protecting school funding.
May 13, 2010: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Isaac Newton Senter Auditorium, County Building
70 West Hedding Street, San Jose, CA
This event is free event and it will be to convene in preparation for the Sacramento bus trip. Issues related to state budgeting for education and the impact that funding cuts have had on our schools will be discussed. This summit is for both those of you who will be taking the bus to Sacramento and also for those who cannot make it on the bus, but would still like to make your voice heard by creating a foundation for the discussions in Sacramento.
May 17, 2010: 7:00am - 7:00pm
Eastridge Mall parking lot in San Jose
The transportation, breakfast, and lunch will be free. The bus will pick you up at 6:00am from the Eastridge Mall parking lot in San Jose and after arriving in Sacramento, participants will take over a committee room in the State Capitol Building for a series of intense discussions with Assembly Members and Senators. Attendees will be fully briefed on the topics for the day.
