Time to Act: Developing Effective Local Policy Changes to Close the Achievement Gap

This forum, the last one of the 3-part series, focused on specific policy changes that may be needed to address the achievement gap. We listened to leaders representing teacher, administrator and school board associations on relevant legislation and policy to address the achievement gap. These leaders provided insights into some of the key factors to consider in developing an effective and impactful policy agenda.

The first forum was held on February 26, 2010 at HP in Palo Alto and the second forum was held on March 17, 2010 at Google's Mountain View campus.

Keynote

Arun Ramanathan, Executive Director, The Education Trust - West

Speaker

Jack O'Connell, State Superintendent of Public Instruction

Small Group Discussions

Through a facilitated discussion, the 110 attendees engaged in a discussion to refine policy ideas generated in forum two.
